Lower High School Study Club
Regular supportive Study Club at Ms Calleja’s Classroom
Is your child needing to improve their English results? English skills like reading comprehension, writing structure, note-taking and speaking and listening are important because they also translate across to other subjects.
Improve your skills in English, improve across the board.
How does study club work?
All students send me their English Outline and any other subjects they are wanting help with. Then I put this in their file and refer to it weekly at the beginning of each session. Each session I chat with them about their goals for the week and their current school tasks and we set a goal for the session. Then we do quiet body doubling. Body Doubling is a productivity strategy where individuals work next to others on their own projects. It improves focus and motivation and it is particularly helpful for neuro-divergent people who struggle with focus and task paralysis.
I check in with each student and read their work, ask them clarifying questions, give them pointers for improvement or extension.
After an hour, we work on a skill or a text together. We view, read, debate, discuss and sometimes play a game. Students are with me for 1 ½ hours. It is a great start to the week and students really enjoy catching up with each other and getting their school work done in a concentrated and supportive way.
At Ms Calleja’s Classroom we care about your kids and strive to create a learning environment where everyone can shine to their full potential.
