About Danielle (aka Ms Calleja)

BA (English and Drama)

Dip Ed (English)

Grad Cert (TESOL)

Danielle Calleja is a teacher who is passionate about her profession. She loves to work with people to stoke their natural love of learning, especially if it has been hampered.

Danielle has over 26 years teaching experience across the educational sectors. Her passions are Mental Health, Trauma Informed Practice, Two-Way Language Learning, Inclusivity, Play-based learning, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Danielle is a literacy specialist, with experience as a key-note speaker at National and State Literacy events. Her most recent qualifications are in Linguistics, with a special interest in Aboriginal English and English as an Additional Language and Dialect (EALD/ESL).

Danielle is also a Drama and Creative Writing teacher. Her background in the Arts informs her love of teaching as play. Each student will develop and grow in a way that is natural to them - play is how we learn. There is so much pressure on people to get things right, but Danielle believes that mistakes help us learn and grow, thus creating a love of learning and steady improvement.

Growth is a big theme in Ms Calleja’s Classroom. Set in a beautiful, forest-like setting, the classroom is a cross between a home and a wonderland of play resources - there is a cubby converted into a library, chickens, vegetables and fruit trees.

The way Ms Calleja teaches is very refreshing, fun, patient and supportive.
