Small cute dog sleeping. Rainbow over building in purple sky.

Hey everyone, we made it to the end of the year! Well done to all the kids who pushed through their tiredness to get their work in and keep learning. Now it’s time to relax for a bit and recharge for the new year.

Little Learners PP-Year 4

The two Wednesday groups have been splitting their time between Maths skills and Phonics. The ratio of adults to kids has increased with Val Goodreid joining us to run Maths games and skills while I take the other two kids for a structured synthetic phonics session, then we swap. This is working well and allows for some good, targeted learning and also lots of fun.

The Saturday group has now moved to a Thursday afternoon. I am seeing some big improvements in reading fundamentals and confidence. This group work so hard to build their skills and remember their phonics and we have made some good progress with a games approach with our “Go Fish” phonics game.

Middle Schoolers

This group has been concentrating on genre, comprehension and sorting facts from opinions. These skills are fundamental in the early years of High School, as the assessments start getting harder and more focused on comprehension and detail. We have just farewelled our longest running student, as his family moved across Perth because he is

starting High School on a tennis scholarship. I look forward to seeing you on TV sometime (you know who you are!)

High School Study Club

This group contained a number of year 12 ATAR students who were busy prepping for their exams. I saw some of them a few times at the beginning of term and was able to reassure them that they could tackle the exams with confidence. I also gave them last minute tips and tricks to keep them on track. Our Year 10 student was able to benefit from working alongside the year 12 students, to see what lay ahead. I have a few spots available in this group for the coming year. Feel free to recommend this to your friends in the area if they have year 10, 11 or 12 ATAR or General English students. Congratulations to graduating students who achieved the following: enrolled in Architecture, Nursing, Speech Pathology and Uniready Course.

Everyone Else

A big shout out to all my individual students. You are all pursuing your individual goals, whether that be improved reading skills, deeper comprehension, better grades, developing an understanding of grammar fundamentals or adding variety to your homeschool curriculum. I love working with you so that you can achieve what you have set your mind to. I don’t have any more spots available during the day, but have a few in the evening at this stage.

See you in class, soon!
